MLD is a very special type of massage designed to stimulate the lymphatic system. It’s a light-pressure, skin-deep massage technique designed to encourage drainage of any excess fluid from any swollen areas into a place where the lymphatic system is working normally., for example, around a recent injury or surgery site.
To do this, the therapist uses specialised movements to clear the area that they want the fluid to drain into. It might seem strange to have your chest and neck manipulated if you have lymphoedema in your arm, for example, but it means that the fluid has somewhere to drain to when the therapist treats your arm.
It can also be performed with skin disorders, headache, sinus congestion, aches or digestive disorders as it has cleansing, relaxing, pain relieving and immunological effects. Manual Lympthatic Drainage is also highly recommended alongside weight loss or detoxing programmes and after liposuction procedures.
Here’s a testimonial from a patient who has regular Manual Lymphatic Drainage with us:
“I broke two bones in my foot, had DVT in the same leg and have also had a vein reduction operation. I’m now on blood thinners as a result. The MLD massage stops the pressurised feeling in my leg and hugely reduces the symptoms of itchiness, numbness, pins and needles, prickly heat and swelling. Virginie’s treatment is a game changer for me, I can’t recommend it highly enough.”

I was unable to walk straight However, after one treatment with Dom I left the clinic walking much better and in less pain. Dom is very knowledgeable, friendly and caring and I felt completely relaxed in his care. He explained what was going on with my body and demonstrated exercises I should do at home. I have been a few times and found everyone very friendly and helpful and always feel welcome by the reception team I would definitely recommendPosted on Roger AmbroseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been coming to this clinic for over 14 years, and I truly can’t recommend it highly enough. Patrick Norman is an exceptional osteopath – deeply knowledgeable, incredibly intuitive, and every single session makes a real difference. Whether it’s a long-standing issue or something new, he has an extraordinary ability to get to the root of the problem and help the body heal. The clinic itself has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are always kind, friendly and genuinely empathetic – you feel seen and cared for from the moment you walk through the door. It’s rare to find somewhere that combines clinical expertise with such human care.Posted on Jo Southgate (SuperJo)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thirteen days ago, I had my first appointment with Adele Sharp at Bexley Osteopathic Clinic. My shoulder had been aching constantly, and I genuinely thought it was something I’d have to live with. But after Adele performed dry needling and osteopathy, the improvement has been remarkable. I’m so grateful. The clinic itself was a lovely, clean, tidy, fresh paint and the staff and management were extremely friendly and welcoming. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bexley Osteopathic Clinic to anyone looking for professional, effective, and caring treatment.
