Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial osteopathy is an extremely gentle approach which some of the osteopaths at this clinic may feel appropriate to use on some problems. If you particularly want cranial treatment, please let us know when you book your appointment so that we can put you with a suitable osteopath. They may for example use it for digestion problems or to help relaxation.

With this very gentle, subtle form of treatment, the patient is usually fully clothed, although it may be necessary to move or remove (with permission) some outer garments so we are able to properly examine and diagnose. This approach is also sometimes referred to as craniosacral therapy due to the fact that treatment is often focused on the head and sacrum (the wedge shaped bone at the base of the spine ).  At this clinic, cranial/ craniosacral treatment is only ever carried out by one of our fully qualified osteopaths.

Babies and Children

All problems with children should be checked out and although osteopathy like many therapies is not going to be appropriate for very serious medical conditions in the way a doctor/hospital is, it has been used for a long time by many thousands of people as a gentle, safe part of their healthcare for other problems. We have provided thousands of treatments for issues such as minor digestion problems or helping with relaxation and sleep.

Overall, the clinics have treated a very large number of babies and children for a wide range of complaints. The patients often come via word of mouth from parents, health visitors, NCT groups etc. We have four osteopaths in our team with a special interest in treating children with decades of experience between them. At The Bexley Osteopathic Clinic we have a big enough team to make sure that you or your child will only be seen by someone with a particular interest or specialism for certain key areas – such as treating babies or children.

Toddlers and older children can bring a favourite book or toy and be treated while quietly playing, being read to or being cuddled by their parent or guardian. We want to be able to offer you the best treatment and best value for your time and money, so if your child is quite hyperactive or less cooperative, please consider when he/she will be able to settle down enough to be treated. Often it helps to book the appointment for a time when you know your child is not likely to be tired or hungry.

Please remember that for legal reasons, any child coming in for treatment must be accompanied by a parent named on the birth certificate or by a legal adoptive parent/ guardian.

Very helpful and friendly team. Anna is very accommodating and understanding. They have helped us lots since we brought our baby for weekly treatment when he was six weeks old. Especially Darya. Also been seen by Hannah since reopening. Very professional, good knowledge around babies and excellent treatment for our Son. Would highly recommend this clinic 😊
